Eventually, Goldstein talked to Ford and sold him on the role
When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford for the show, Segal said that Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and intended to audition for people who looked like Ford. Segal told Goldstein that he would at least bring it up to Ford first, who he thought would immediately reject him, but at least others would hear that Harrison Ford brought it up, which would pique the interest of other big-name actors.

Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he’s excited nonetheless. The Psychotherapist was as good as I could have hoped.
Well, I finished it and it not only met my expectations, it exceeded them
First off, I knew I was going to see it as soon as I saw Harrison Ford and Jason Segel in it, but after reading all the positive reviews and watching the trailer, my excitement grew even more. I wouldn’t say it’s the best show of the year, but it’s an original, good comedy that will keep you laughing throughout the entire episode.
